Aren't those amazing? That's the best close-up view I've ever seen. Our LA port (in San Pedro) is packed with them (as you can imagine) & my very close friend (a woman) works as a longshoreman. San Pedro (next to Palos Verdes) has many Italian and Croatian immigrants from 3rd to 1st generation.
Yes the pilot boat looks like a mosquito. What amazes me is when tugs start to work on those monsters. They are so small too...

(God, this photo reminded me of my late father, who would ask me, what is heavier, a kilo of feathers or a kilo of steel, and I couldn't understand the answer...!!!)

I always find it amazing how high they stack the containers and how huge these ships are.

I could never have one of these ships. I'm no good at packing. Imagine going on a vacation and when you need a couple of new trousers, they are tucked away in container 362, close to the bottom of pile 37. Dreadful.
